Summer maintenance on your home:
The summer is a great time to make sure drain lines are cleared on a/c and change out the batteries in the Thermostat. Doing this help prevent those dreaded nights were it is 90 degrees and your a/c stops running. Doing these few simple items before summer (April) and toward the end of summer (August) can help prevent this most annoying issue.
To clear out your drain line (for most a/c unit) you can use a shop vacuum and warm water/vinegar solution. Pour the solution in the drain line and let sit for at least 30 minutes. DO NOT USE BLEACH. Bleach can cause more wear and tear on the area, the now suggest less abrasive mixture is vinegar. Once the solution as had time to break free the gunk in the lines, then you can use the shop vacuum to suck everything out. I suggest to also check your drip pan to see if any water needs to be removed. Another helpful tip is putting the date on your monthly filter to make it easier to remember when you last changed it. Try to use monthly a/c filters verses 2 to 3 month use filters. These can restrict air flow more; the monthly filters work perfectly for your home.
